When you know you are being tested, the key is to stay calm.
The last 24 hours has thrown at me far too much crap! Nothing has been simple. Nothing has worked as it should.
Today, my laptop booted up with issues from Windows 10. Played with registry, WiFi connectivity issues, slow download speeds, links not working, and the list just goes on!
The ultimate question is why? There was a time me & my buddies would take apart laptops, put them back together & reinstall software in less time than this this hot mess of a laptop is taking to just get up & running.
I haven’t broken down, but I’m not sure how much more I can take of it.
Please help me, for I’m at the end of sanity.
Today is “Kraai vs Computer Day”. In the continuing saga, I pulled out my laptop from under my bed. Was all ready to get myself up & running
See positive thinking!
Then, as I’m running comondo, my laptop stops responding. Then I get the death Black screen. Try powering it off, it turns into a fight between a possessed laptop and a Viking finger. Eventually I win. Boot up in OCD fashion, pressing ESC like a mad woman.
Try system restore - it fails. Repeat the power on & off dance. Eventually get to the option to erase everything & reboot. Now I wait for the cows to come home to see if this solves the problem.
Fingers are crossed. Recreating everything will be a thorn in my side, but salvaging the laptop is worth it.
Never boring, that’s for sure!
Last night we had a series of power surges. Didn’t worry much, heard my computer reboot, rolled back over in bed.
This morning, I go to sit down and commence my day of riveting games, & it’s suck on the HP screen.
Power if off, try to load so the bios screen opens, nope won’t work. Try again, no success.
Bring it The PC Dude in town, Lauren tries everything & nothing is screaming “I’m the problem.”
So, next step transfer data off hard drive (it’s be done right now) and see if they can locate the culprit. Likely out come - the tower is junked & replaced with a new one.

Hopefully everything comes back into place and you will have a running pc again.~Reaper
Thanks! Things are getting a little more screwy for me now! My laptop which I haven’t used since November had a virus on it
So, I've been trying to balance my checking account, I have in there Ursula Halloween from Google. But I can't find a confirmation email anywhere. So tonight I go and check out google, and check all my google accounts and there's no record of the order! Turns out for some reason my debit card wasn't being accepting & I had to use a credit card. So for the past week, I thought I ordered my costume ... turns out I am having a blonde moment or two & and really needed to pay attention to the big red notice next to the place order button that said "Check Payment Information."
All is good now, it is ordered & will be here by October 8th, wig and accessories are all ready here!
So, I woke up with clean sheets on my bed, which is always awesome. My alarm is not what woke me, but a feeling of being well rested! Psych!
Played on my phone, trying to beat the pants off random strangers in my Yahtzee app, and drank my coffee at my leisure. Ate breakfast, when my tummy started to grumble.
Proceed upstairs, once I was deemed myself ready to start my day. Not because I was running late or had to get the hell out of the house.
Processed some checks for the organization I am treasurer for, and then proceed to get myself showered and dressed for the day.
Took a drive downtown, where I got my car, Dante, a hand car wash, and deposited those checks at the bank. I felt successful.
Proceed home, ate some lunch, and found my way to VR. Here I sit, playing and conversing. Having a relaxing day and taking in the peace of no obligations.
I am a free bird!
So I live on the coast of NC, it’s low key, laid back and full of nice people. There’s some stellar doctors like my PCP & MS doctor, and some of my other specialists but for one on going problem, there’s no one within 2 hours of me.
So, I must travel to Durham, which is outside of Raliegh. To Duke Medical. A top notch facility. It takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to get there depending on construction. And the drive is really boring- 150 miles on one highway that has nothing to look at and no traffic to speak of until your just outside of Raliegh.
Today, I had to do the trip by myself. Normally I take my mom with me, so there’s company in the car, but she had a very important appointment of her own today.
So off I went, with an overnight bag in case the appointment ran late and I had to find a hotel room or my friend Kim could let me crash.
I held the wheel firmly, the wind was whistling & moving the car. By the time I got there, I had time to get a salad & got potty before my appointment. Then my doctor was running an hour behind!
The appointment was awesome- we agreed on a surgery to hopefully correct the issue and will see if insurance will cover it. If not it’s back to the drawing board.
BUT, when I walked out of there & to my car, it was nearly 3:15 - I had to book it out of there, to beat sunset. You see, I have lost my night vision due genetics & MS. So driving in the dark is like someone driving with a blindfold on.
I’ve made this trip so many times since February that I knew the issue was going to be traffic getting out of Raliegh- and it was. I was on the road for 4 hours, as I pulled into my area, the sun setting, and I was pushing it, alas I made it home safely.
Needless to say, I’m happy that I have a solution to a problem that’s making my life a living hell, but oh boy oh boy do I wish the facility was closer!
OMG!!!!
I picked up my new glasses today .. my $1200+ investment in my eyes. Holy shit Wonder Woman! I’ve seen the light! Didn’t realize my vision had changed so much, but now I can see for miles & everything is crisp & clear!
As I was driving home, I saw signs on the highway that I never knew were there! Hot tamale!

dang woman, how the heck have you been doing it this long LOL
I am happy for you hun to see sights that might bring a tear drop to ones eye.
Yet I picture you singing “I saw the sun! Opened up my eyes, I saw the sun!”
Lol
Yikes, somehow today turned into a running around fest again. At least it turned 4 pm and I was able to sit down and play. Tomorrow festivities don't start until 10 am and I should be home around 2:30/3:00 ... and I'll be sporting my new glasses, and all ready for my journey on Thursday (can't wait a 7 1/2 our drive for a 1/2 hour appointment.) ... ... At least my vision will be right & I'll be able to see signs and whatnot correctly.
Holy Batman, no Robin, I’ve been through the ringer and I’m spun so tight that there’s no floof left in me. I’ll see your crazy and raise you an insane.

Hope you feel better sweets.
thanks hon! It's looking like things calm down this weekend for me... ...so I am looking forward to that.
Okay, so I spent almost my entire summer isolated from human contact due to my ankle injury. Kinda similar to a Disney princess locked in a tower, with meals being delivered to her and only true interaction was various TV series and movies, that did not talk back and the occassional go around on Facebook and VR. On very limited occasions, my friends or family would visit me upstairs, but far and from anything to constitute meaningful interaction.
Now that I am a free woman, downgraded to a brace, able to drive, I somehow mess my back up. Not just a slight pain, but MEGA pain, pain enough that when I get up from a seated position, I almost fall to the floor. While walking my legs give out me. Issue enough that I am hesitate to leave the house and run out to the store, for fear I will fall. WTF, seriously.
I've about had it with this craziness. The madness needs to stop now. Not that I have huge plans to travel the world or anything but it would be nice to be able to run out to the grocery store to pick up yogurt!
And perhaps I am throwing my own pity party, a little bit, but nearly four months, I am loosing what ever sanity I had, and frankly, there wasn't a lot to loose from the get go, so I need normality to be restored. The alternative is far too scary.
Survived my Ocrevus infusion for my MS!
It was a long time of sitting waiting for the medication to run through my IV, but thanks to the nurses at the infusion center, time flew by!
Getting up at 5:30 wasn’t ideal but this only happens every 6 months.
I have to get this off my chest!
So, I vape. I vape fruity flavors too! I vape so I don't return to smoking, which I have done for well over 35 years.
Recently the State of NY put a 90 day ban on the sale of all vape juices except Tobacco and Menthol. The goal is to curb youthful vaping.
Now don't get me wrong 6 or 8 deaths of primarily young kids from assumed vaping related injuries, and a large number of young people being hospitalized due to assumed vaping injuries is alarming. HOWEVER, in everything I read, not one doctor can say with absolute certainty that the vaping device and the juices are the direct cause of the injury. They are offering educated guesses that some vaping juices contain vitamin E oil in them, and that it is a known fact that vitamin E is dangerous when introduced to the lungs.
Add to this hypothesis that the community is concluding all vape juices are the same, and that all homemade juices are the same AND all THC juices are the same!
With the deceased & ill children, it has come out that some were vaping unregulated TCH. Regulated being defined as coming from a State run dispensary, that has checks and balances in how the pod containing the TCH juice is created and packaged for consumption.
Then introduce the one kid, who is now telling his story vocally, who in one day would vape 4 Juul pods (that's a pack of smokes!) or more, and had breathing issues. Shit, for real, as a former smoker, if I chain smoked, and finished a pack too quickly, I'd have signs of asthma and being winded. That's a not a revelation.
Now, I can see the FDA wanting to get their hands into the pot. It's a money making arena for them. And it gives them a chance to verify that Vape Shops/Juice Producers are not selling you shit with who knows what is in the juice. No big deal, so the product will cost a little bit more. No big deal.
But to out right ban vaping or out right ban all the flavors but 2 of them, give me a break! Not only are you punishing adults who vape, you are acting foolishly. If you were concerned for people's well being, you would cast a larger net and ban all nicotine products.
Crap 480,000 deaths a year are attributed to nicotine! Now if you do the math, this year alone, 8 of those deaths were assumed to be by vaping, leaving 479,992 deaths by all other nicotine products. Now you tell me, what kills more vaping or cigars, cigarettes, chew, pipes, etc?
Now what makes sense? Take away the right of adults to enjoy their smoke free life through vaping things like cotton candy, tropical fruit, pina colada or mango (for example) and beat the odds of dying from lung cancer, or cut them off from the alternative and push them back into the habit of cigarettes or other nicotine products and increase their risks of dying from lung cancer, coronary heart disease, heart attack or stroke, to name a few.
Seriously what is the big deal? I say leave us vapors alone and let us continue in peace.
****this journal is strictly about vaping vs smoking and not about politics, any comments left that cater towards politics will be deleted.****
So, eye exam today. Positive thinking didn't work today. My eyes yet again changed, and yet again I shelled out over $600 for new eye glasses. I swear this is getting expensive to ensure I can see properly.
If you think you are doing wrong, likely you are doing wrong.
I’m waiting on an epiphany to occur, will you be my epiphany?

I have always drank ice mountain water in a plastic bottle but never had one in a can before. I love the catchy name too it’s cute Liquid Death! My first reaction when I saw this ah great a fancy beer can but looked closely and saw the words water. I was like what are you kidding me.
Ha, it’s the real deal - water in a recyclable can.
So, my ankle kills me. My back is on fire. But alas I’ve polished of a bottle of wine so ... ...Here comes Mighty Mouse to save the day
My goodness, for fucks sake, who in their right mind schedules a doctor appointment for 7:50 am that is an hour fifteen minutes away from their home?
*raises hand -that would be this glutton for punishment girl right here!
Crazy? Check!
Never again- you bet!
Words of wisdoms - Percocet & financial documents do not mix! Don’t fool yourself, your work product will be less than satisfactory
Give me your ill, give me you unwanted, give me your doomed, I will turn them around, just watch me!
Into the world I go
Taking a major step towards freedom.
Alas, adventure awaits me,
After a long abstinence.
My return was short lived,
As I was torn down by someone else’s germs.
As I sit and listen to some calming jazz, I ponder when shall my return become a reality?
When will my body shake the germs that have an ugly hold of me?
When will I wake, refreshed and with a bounce in my step?
Willful thinking keeps me hopeful come Monday, I’ll be doing jumping jacks and somersaults.
I’m in search of positive and healing energy.
It’s been too long of being cooped up, it’s time to let my wings fly!
The aftermath- today is beautiful! Our retention ponds are filled to the brim, our yards soaked and some trees down in the neighborhood but for the most part we don’t seem harmed by hurricane Dorian. Up the street where the tornado hit, homes are destroyed and further up some parks are flooded & water floods onto the highway but all in all not too bad.
I say we are blessed, it could have been a lot worse.
So the eye of the hurricane is just off shore from us, we have winds shaking the house and rains pounding down. Kinda like to intense sleep meditation song scape.

Omg - Hurricane Dorian is one angry man!!! Storm surges, flooding & Tornadoes landing five minutes from my abode causing major destruction. Not having a fun time!

Stay safe, dry and have a plan.
Thanks, we have a plan. The alerts are set on the phones. Was woken up at 6:30 am with tornado alerts. Happy I was, able to get into safety. Tonight is what worries me, we should be in the eye.
Aging is not for the faint hearted.
Watching your parents age is horrible.
I’m stuck in a horrible movie, that unfolds daily with new grievances and set backs that are out of my control.
If anyone told me this was how it would be when I grew up, I’d have stayed in Europe, married the boy from the Netherlands and never come back.
The emotions and anxiety I have tears me up inside to no avail.
New need - the fountain of youth & time travel
Watch & wait ... that’s what we are left to do with Dorian
Right now my heart & prayers go out to the Bahamas. A category 5 is no joke! And then there’s the east coast of Florida/Georgia/the Carolinas.
Dorian is taking his time, building but hopefully will loose his strength by the time he makes it to the Carolinas.
I’m not in the mood for a mandatory evacuation again. The last one sent us away for 7 days & through the mountains of West Virginia, crazy roads, and depressing areas.
Road closures and driving out of our way just to get home and seeing the devastation, it’s saddening and sickening.
So we sit and watch, and hope while we pray for those hit with the worse of the worse.
Not loving living in hurricane country!
